Shanghai Century Park covers an area of 140.3 hectares and is easily accessible by metro, bus or taxi. The garden is all round a vast lake. Imposing city structures form a beautiful backdrop. It is a very popular picnic spot and it being a Saturday and a beautiful sunny day the Chinese were there in the park in full force, sunning, playing, courting, proposing and getting photographed after exchanging rings. Unlike us where barat and baratees and gala celebrations are video taped, Chinese take vows and exchange rings in a private ceremony and then exchange gifts and have dinner together ( I will write later on Chinese customs and traditions). The couples get themselves photographed for reminiscing and licking their wounds and sing “Those were the days” or “Wo bhi kya din the” later in life. Enjoy the pictures.
