series的意思是“系列”，是一个单复同型的词。a series of 即“一系列的”，用来修饰lectures。
在主谓一致原则里，“量词用法请注意，谓语要随量词变”即告诉我们a series of对应的应该是单数谓语形式，而若是series of对应的应该是复数谓语的形式。
